Pope Francis has in recent years designated the Sunday closest to the Feast of Ss. Joachim and Anne as ‘World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly’.

The National Pilgrimage of the Catholic Grandparents Association takes place that day in Knock and indeed the theme of Reek Sunday is also this year being dedicated to World Day of Grandparents and the Elderly.

This is the 4th World Day and the theme this year is ‘Do not cast me off in my old age’ (Ps.71:9)
