Thursday 2nd February, Presentation of the Lord in the Temple is also known as the Feast of Candlemas. It is associated with the blessing of candles. Candles for use in the home & church should be left on the front seats of the church & will be
blessed at mass that morning. Faith in the Church has traditionally been regarded as a light. At baptism a lighted candle represents the faith story the newly baptised child has become part of. We use them in our liturgies down through the ages.
