Fr. Sean Sexton, Inagh/Kilnamona, A.P. Críocha Callan Pastoral Area.

Sean Sexton was born on 12th May 1940; he was a native of Lissycasey Parish. He attended St. Flannan’s College and in 1958 he began his studies for Priesthood in St. Patricks College, Maynooth. He was ordained in Maynooth on June 20th 1965. His first appointment was to Gort in Co. Galway.

In 1966 he was appointed to Birr Parish. In December 1967 he was appointed to Nenagh Parish. In the summer of 1968 he was sent to Swansea University to study youth ministry. On his return in the July 1969 he was appointed Chaplain to Ennis Vocational School and Diocesan Director of Youth Ministry. In that year he was an inaugural director of the Clare Regional Youth Council which would become the Clare Youth Service.

This marked the beginning of a four decade long term of service with that organisation. In 1974 he became fulltime director of youth ministry. In July 1995 he was appointed priest in residence in Kilnamona and in July 1999 he became Parish Priest of Inagh/Kilnamona. In 2008 he retired from Clare Youth Service. In the Diocesan restructuring of 2018, he became A.P. in Críocha Callan pastoral area.

He Died on 17th of November 2024

Reposing at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Inagh, on Wednesday 20th Nov. from 3 pm with funeral prayers at  7 pm.

Funeral Mass on Thursday 21st Nov at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Inagh, at 2 pm.

Burial afterwards in the grounds of St. Joseph’s Church, Kilnamona.
