Sunday 2nd February, Presentation of the Lord is also known as the Feast of Candlemas.

It is associated with the blessing of candles.

Candles for use in the home & church should be left on the front seats of the church & will be blessed at masses that weekend.

Faith in the Church has traditionally been regarded as a light.

At baptism a lighted candle represents the faith story the newly baptised child has become part of.

We use them in our liturgies down through the ages.
